Firewall and Antivirus Disable Guide

1. Purpose of This Guide

Before installing any software that requires drivers, network ports, or background services, please make sure to temporarily disable the firewall and antivirus software.

These security programs may block installation files or background services and cause the following issues:

  • Installation failure
  • Software cannot start normally
  • Drivers or ports are blocked

Note:

The firewall and antivirus software only need to be disabled during the installation process.

They can be re-enabled after the installation is completed.

2. Notes Before Operation

  • This guide uses Windows built-in security software (Windows Defender) as an example.
  • The interface may vary between different firewall or antivirus software, but the operation logic is similar.
  • On some systems, firewall functions and antivirus (real-time protection) functions are managed separately. Please follow the actual interface shown on your system.

3. Operation Steps

(Windows Defender Example)

3.1 Open the Firewall or Antivirus Software Window

  • Click the “∧” icon in the lower-right corner of the Windows desktop to show hidden system tray icons.
  • Locate the running firewall or antivirus software icon and double-click it to open the software window. (See Figure 3-1)

In the “Security at a glance” window, click “Virus & threat protection”.
(See Figure 3-2)

3.3 Enter the Protection Settings Page

On the “Virus & threat protection” page, click “Manage settings” to open the protection settings screen. (See Figure 3-3)

3.4 Temporarily Disable Real-Time Protection

Under “Real-time protection”, switch the status from “On” to “Off”.
If a system confirmation message appears, click “Yes” to confirm.
(See Figure 3-4-1 / Figure 3-4-2)

3.5 Confirm the Firewall or Protection Is Disabled

Confirm that the firewall or real-time protection status shows one of the following:

  • Off
  • A system message such as “Protection is turned off.”

After confirmation, you can proceed with the next software installation steps.
