How to Manually Position Multiple Images in PrintFactory RIP

1. When to Use Manual Positioning

Use Manual Positioning when multiple images must follow a specific order, direction, or customer group. You can place each image as required. This helps keep production and customer orders organized.

If no fixed order or grouping is required, use “Auto Nest.” It reduces blank space.

Use Manual Positioning when multiple images must be arranged in a specific order or grouped by customer. You can adjust the position of each image individually.

If no fixed arrangement is required and you only need to reduce unused media space, see Auto Nest.

2. Before You Start

  • Set the correct media width. Each image must fit within the effective printable width. Otherwise, part of an image may fall outside the print area. If the media width has not been set, see Set Media Width (Print Area).
  • Save the image files on the computer. Make sure they can be opened. Common formats include JPG, TIFF, and PNG.

3. Steps

3.1 Start PrintFactory RIP

Double-click the PrintFactory RIP icon on the desktop to start the software (See Fig.3.1).

3.2 Add Image Files

Click the + button in the upper-left corner to add a job (See Fig.3.2).

3.3 Open the Files

  1. In the file window, select the image files. Click Open (See Fig.3.3-1).
  2. The files load into the layout area automatically (See Fig.3.3-2).

The images appear in the layout area after loading. Their initial positions may not match the required layout. Adjust them one by one.

3.4 Position the Images Manually

  1. Click the image you want to move to select it.
  2. Hold down the left mouse button and drag the image to the required position.
  3. Repeat these steps to position the other images (See Fig.3.4-1).
  4. After positioning the images, confirm three points. All images are inside the white print area. They do not overlap. Enough cutting space remains (See Fig.4-2).

Manual positioning is now complete.
