How to Auto Nest Multiple Images in PrintFactory RIP
1. When to Use Auto Nest
Use Auto Nest when multiple images do not need a fixed order or customer grouping. The software automatically rearranges the images within the print area to reduce unused media space.
If the images must follow a specific order, direction, or customer group, see Manual Positioning.
2. Before You Start
- Set the correct media width. Each image must fit within the effective printable width. Otherwise, part of an image may fall outside the print area. If the media width has not been set, see Set Media Width (Print Area).
- Save the image files on the computer. Make sure they can be opened. Common formats include JPG, TIFF, and PNG.
3.2 Add Image Files
Click the + button in the upper-left corner to add a job (See Fig.3.2).
3.3 Open the Files
In the file window, select the image file. Click Open (See Fig.3.3-1).
The file loads into the layout area automatically (See Fig.3.3-2).
3.4 Set the Spacing and Auto Nest
- In the Alignment / Nesting panel, enter the spacing between images. For a standard layout, start with 5 mm. This leaves space for cutting and keeps image edges apart. Increase the value if more cutting space is required.
- Click Nest. The software rearranges the images within the current print area to reduce blank space (See Fig.3.4).
3.5 Confirm the Layout
After you click Nest, the images appear in new positions in the layout area (See Fig.3.5).
Confirm that all images are inside the white print area and do not overlap.
If the layout is not suitable, adjust the spacing and click Nest again.
Auto Nest is now complete.
