Set TCP/IP Mode in PrintFactory RIP
LINKO Technical Guide
1. Purpose
This guide explains how to turn on TCP/IP Mode in PrintFactory RIP. In this mode, the print data is sent directly to the print control software (called “control software” in this guide).
If you have not chosen an output method, read PrintFactory RIP File Processing & Output Workflow first.
2. Before You Start
Check the following before you start:
- PrintFactory RIP and the control software are installed on the same computer.
- The control software starts normally and stays open.
- The computer meets the requirements in the table below.
💡 Note
TCP/IP Mode sends the print data directly to the control software. No local print file is created. The control software must stay open to receive the print job.
| Item | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 (version 1809 or later) or Windows 11, 64-bit | Same as minimum |
| Processor | Intel Core i5 | Intel Core i7 (12th generation or newer) or AMD Ryzen 7 |
| Memory | 8 GB | 16–32 GB |
| Storage | 160 GB SSD | 500 GB SSD or NVMe M.2 |
⚠ Important
In TCP/IP Mode, RIP processing and printing run at the same time. The computer must complete RIP processing at printing speed. If the computer is not powerful enough, the print may pause. Print defects may also appear. These problems are caused by computer performance. They are not a fault of the printer or the RIP software.
If your computer does not meet the requirements, use File Mode instead.
Also recommended:
- Do not install other software on the computer that runs the RIP. Other software uses system resources.
- Log in with an account that has administrator rights.
- Use a stable wired network connection between the computer and the printer. Do not disconnect during printing.
3.2 Open the Settings Window
Double-click the printer icon on the left. The Output Device settings window opens. (See Fig. 3.2)
4. Set TCP/IP Mode
⚠ Note
Output settings are saved separately for each printer driver. If you select the wrong driver, the setting will not apply to the printer you use.
In the Output Device settings window, complete the following steps. (See Fig. 4)
- Check the printer driver at the top of the window. Express version: only one driver is available. Continue to the next step. Production version: several drivers can be loaded. Select the driver for your printer.
- Select TCP/IP.
- Enter 127.0.0.1 in the IP address field. This value is fixed. Do not enter another address.
- Click OK to save the settings.
