Ink Pad Replacement

1. Function of the Ink Pad

● Collects and Absorbs Cleaning Ink

During printhead cleaning or ink suction, ink is actively drawn out.
The ink pad is located under the printhead.
It collects and absorbs the ink discharged during cleaning.
This provides a stable surface for ink suction and cleaning operations.

● Printhead Sealing and Moisturizing

When the printer is in standby or powered off, the printhead moves onto the ink pad.
The sealing surface of the ink pad contacts the bottom of the printhead.
This reduces air entry into the nozzle area.
It helps keep the nozzles moist and lowers the risk of drying or clogging.

● Supports Stable Printhead Cleaning

During printhead cleaning, the ink pad works as the contact surface between the printhead and the ink suction system.
It provides basic buffering and ink absorption.
This helps keep the suction process stable.
As a result, cleaning consistency and ink output performance are improved.

2. Importance of Ink Pad Maintenance

The ink pad is a consumable part.
Over time, it becomes saturated with ink.
Dried ink may build up on the surface.
Its elasticity and absorption ability will decrease.

If the ink pad is not cleaned or replaced in time, the following issues may occur:

  • Poor sealing between the printhead and the ink pad, causing nozzle drying or clogging
  • Reduced cleaning efficiency, even after repeated cleaning
  • Decreased absorption and buffering ability, affecting suction stability
  • Ink may flow directly into the waste ink bottle, causing ink waste
If not handled in time, there is a risk of waste ink overflow

3. Ink Pad Maintenance and Replacement Schedule

To ensure stable printing and extend printhead life, follow the schedule below:

● Regular Cleaning (Once per Week)

Use a lint-free cloth or cotton swab.
Apply a dedicated cleaning solution.
Gently wipe dried ink from the ink pad edges.

● Regular Replacement (Once Every 3 Months)

Even if the surface looks usable, the inside may already be saturated with ink.
Replace the ink pad on time to avoid hidden risks.
