Cleaning the Encoder Strip

1. What is an Encoder Strip?

The encoder strip is a transparent positioning belt used to detect the carriage movement position.

2. Why Should You Clean It?

Dust or ink stains on the encoder strip may cause carriage offset, shaking, or ghosting.

Regular cleaning ensures accurate positioning and stable printing quality.

3. Cleaning Materials

Please select the appropriate cleaning materials based on the contamination level.

Lint-free cloth:

Used for daily cleaning when the encoder strip has no ink stains or only light dust.

Lint-free cloth + cleaning solution:

Used for deep cleaning when ink has splashed on the encoder strip.
Note: Please choose the correct cleaning solution based on your printer type.

4. Cleaning Steps (→ Refer to the video above.)

4.1 Prepare the cleaning materials. If using a cleaning solution, fold the lint-free cloth into a small piece and lightly moisten it.

4.2 Wipe the encoder strip in one direction, from one end to the other.
Notes:
Keep the movement light and level.
Do not wipe back and forth.

4.3 Repeat the wiping process 1–2 times until the encoder strip surface is clean.

5. Prohibited Actions

To avoid damaging the encoder strip, strictly avoid the following:
❌ Using tissues or rough tools
❌ Applying excessive pressure
❌ Dripping excessive alcohol onto the strip
❌ Touching the encoder strip with your fingers
