Grounding & Anti-Static Guide

Applicable Models: All LINKO DTF / UV DTF / UV Printers

1. Overview

Grounding reduces static electricity and protects the printhead, mainboard, and operator.
This guide provides simple and universal grounding methods.

2. Why Grounding Is Necessary

Poor grounding may cause:

  • Powder sticking and blurry images
  • DTF film arching and not fitting the printing platform
  • Printhead or mainboard damage, missing lines
  • Mild electric shock when touching metal parts

Proper grounding helps avoid these issues and ensures stable printing.

3. Recommended Grounding Methods(Simple methods recommended for all users)

3.1 Use a Grounded Wall Outlet (Most Important)

  • Use a three-hole wall outlet (with ground).
  • Use the original three-hole power cable.
  • Avoid two-hole outlets.
  • Avoid using conversion adapters when possible.

This is the basic and most effective grounding method.

3.2 Add an Anti-Static Wire

Recommended for dry regions, winter seasons, and UV/DTF film printing.

Installation:
Clip one end to a metal part of the machine (such as the printing platform).
Clip the other end to a metal object or a salt-water bottle.

Function:
Releases static quickly and reduces powder sticking or film arching.

Please follow the operation shown in the video.

3.3 Avoid Fully Insulated Environments

Ensure the area around the machine has moderate conductivity:

  • Do not place the machine on plastic floor mats.
  • Avoid insulated carpets.
  • In autumn/winter or dry climates, use a humidifier and keep humidity at 45%–65%.

Please follow the operation shown in the video.

4. Simple Grounding Check

No tools required.

4.1 Plug Check

Must be a three-hole plug.
Two-hole outlets cannot provide grounding.

4.2 Outlet Fit Check

Plug must be firmly inserted.
Loose outlets may cause poor grounding.

4.3 Machine Touch Check

Mild tingling when touching metal → Possible grounding issue.
No sensation → Normal.

4.4 Printing Behavior Check

The following issues are usually caused by static:

DTF film powder sticking (See Figure 4.4-1)

DTF film arching (See Figure 4.4-3)

If these appear → Add an anti-static wire.

5. When to Re-Check Grounding

Re-check grounding in the following situations:

  • Entering autumn/winter in dry regions
  • Moving or reinstalling the machine
  • Replacing the power cable or wall outlet
  • Repeated powder sticking or film arching
  • Operator feels mild electric sensation

6. Actions to Avoid

These behaviors may cause severe static or electrical risks:
❌ Using a two-hole outlet
❌ Using low-quality adapters
❌ Placing the machine on plastic mats
❌ Modifying power cables
❌ Using the machine in wet areas
